Well, i was at the Sydney City Scooter Club tonight, and a friend of mine who knows some of you (Andy Jackson) tells me there is an old photo of me here. And so there is!
In those days I was in the Target Scooter Club. That would be 1980-1981. I had a red & white LI 150 with the SX20/TV175 front forks witha disc brake. I bought it from a guy who worked in Chy-An-Stylus on Market Jew St for the grand sum of 30 quid.
I also have the dubious privilege of writing the Cornish Mod fanzine at the time. Amazingly called "Target".
Just thought I'd drop in and have a look around.
Are their patches?

Hiya, Welcome to the forum nice to establish a link with the other side of the world. I visited Sydney last year and met members of your club, so its good to hear from you. I didnt hit the scene until 83 but Alex who's the main man has been around forever so more likely to remember your club and more likely to know you.
Regards
Martin

Martin, yes I think I remember you coming out last year. From andy, I got some info about Alex. I used to know an Alex in Penzance, just wondering if it's the same one.
Rich, I was wondering who posted that picture. LOL. That pic was taken when I was ridding my scoot up to Manchester, I think. Would be the last time I saw you. So that would be 1981.
Yes I do remember getting busted for taking you on the back. You remember why? Because we were being chased by a bunch of skins. The copper saw what happened, and still booked me anyway.
Hmm, what's the interest on that money now? I reckon you must owe me a beer at least. I saw the magazine on Detour records web site for 50 quid about 2 years ago! So, maybe you owe me a few beers now! However, it's a bit far to go. Particularly for St Austell ales (ugh!) Last time I was in Cornwall was 5 years ago. My mum, sister and my nephews are still there. Actually, one of my nephews was talking about getting a lammie after he rode on my TS1 out here.
I have a pic of Myself and Phil outside my house in Marazion somewhere. I'll try and dig it out.

little bit too early days for me, but from penzance myself ( well since 72 anyway). Can remember chy-an-stylus, cant think of the guys name who used to run it but know he was in a local band called The Vendettas.Lyric to one of their songs was as follows, "I'm a vendetta , ride a red lambretta, coast to coast on beans on toast" They don't write them like that anymore ;D There was a mod called Alex from penzance back then. surname Jenkins in my year at school.Had an older sister tracy i think. But thats not our Alex! Ring any bells? Cheers GMC

To be honest, I'm afraid, Rich and I didn't know each other that well. He was just a spotty 15 year old! LOL

In Penzance, we nearly ended up in a fight with the punks, once, because a couple ofthe mods set up a band called "Corpse in teh Attic", taking the piss out of the punks who had "Body in the Library". It got really close, then the bikers showed up, and most ofthe guys were crapping it. They were the secret weapon though, as they knew me as I knew them from the cafe from before I was a mod... so they came on our side. Funny as hell to see the Punks faces go from "We are going to get you" to "Now you are f*cked" to "What the f*ck?" and "RUN!"
The skinheads finally got me at Christmas 1981. I was at Demelzas watching the Q-Tips, and the cheaters as support. They Kicked over my scoot to start with, and later on beat the shit out of me (Debbie and Alex Jenkins saw it). a dozen against just me. So brave! Budgie (from Hayle) was the leader of that little lot. So stupid, as he used to be a mod.
