Hi all. The boy thinks he has found "the scoot". Did a HPI check and all seems OK but it says to validate the guarantee I have to confirm that the VIN number corresponds with their records and the log book. Where is the VIN on a T5 classic please?
Cheers

Vin plate should be under the fuel tap and stamped in the frame by the rear shock absorber, unless it's been painted then the vin plate could be anywhere....

Thanks. All this research is doing my head in. Done some googling and it says Vin no VNX5T is the frame number and VNX5M will be the engine number. On my HPI check this is what they quoted. So how easy is it to find and see the engine number? I'm just assuming that the other location you gave me was for the frame number.
Finally going to view and hopefully purchase the scooter tomorrow but as it is out of county I don't want to keep having to to and fro.
All this concern is because many years ago I bought a car without doing the checks ..... it ended up being a car that had been in a full frontal smack and still had outstanding HPI. I don't want any problems for my boy..

Couldn't you just get someone who knows what they're looking at to have a look at it? Where is it and have you got any pics of it?

I don't know anyone with a Vespa well enough to ask them to come up to Barnstaple. I have only seen you Trogs about 3 times in a couple of years, so although I feel comfortable enough asking on here, I wouldn't feel comfortable asking anyone to lose a day looking at a Vespa with me. So we went up this morning anyway. Everything went OK. Just come back from Carn Brea Leisure Centre car park where the boy had his first ride and he has now decided that he doesn't like Vespas !!! I'm just glad it is his money that he has spent, not mine. Am hoping that after a few lessons he will grow to love it!
