I'm after some advice please gentlemen! i had a worn cruciform on my p200e so i thought i'd have a go myself (with the help of a few work colleagues with more experience) i thought i'd done ok, replaced the hub bearing, cruciform, new seals, new clutch plates. i test rode it last night and it seems a bit noisy, almost like a rumble/grind also there was a bit of clutch judder when i pulled away. so i've just took a couple of videos and posted them on youtube hoping that some members with more experience than me could tell me if this is the normal sound of vespa gears. this is in gear:- www.youtube.com/watch?v=x4e-65pe2Rc&feature=youtu.bethis is in neutral:- www.youtube.com/watch?v=d7FJedu1GZU&feature=youtu.bemany thanks wingnut

What oil have you put in the gearbox and did you soak the clutch plates for 24 hours first?

clutch plates soaked for 48 or more hours and used sae30 oil for gears, i have just pulled the clutch apart and rebuilt and it seems fine now. only think is my kickstart now seems different and doesnt start the engine. bumped off fine and took it for a spin around st. ives and it ran fine. apart from it won't tick over??

sounds like the kickstart gear has been put in wrong , or the kickstart spring has gone walkies . Page 51 of the brown Haynes manual (red T5 on the front). Means splitting the crankcases again to sort out i'm afraid. Cheers G

Try slackening the clutch cable off until the kickstart turns the engine over again, hopefully that's all that is. As for the not ticking over, that could be just coincidence.

i've been fiddling with the scoot this afternoon and it all seems fine until i tighten up the clutch cover then the kickstart plays up. I've come to the conclusion that i'm using the wrong woodruff and the clutch bell isn't going in far enough, does anyone know if its the large or small woodruff, but i've lost my small one on the gravel drive

Hi dude, It sounds to me that your clutch isn't seating properly on your crank, meaning it will stand slightly proud so as when you put the clutch cover on & tighten the 3 studs it compresses slightly thus disengaging the kickstart. You should be able to fit the clutch cover fully before putting the studs in. If the clutch is slightly mis aligned on the woodruff key it will seem to pull down tight but will work free in a short amount of time. The thick woodruff key is for the clutch, the thin one is for the flywheel. Hope this is some help.

thanks mate, that is exactly what it seems to be, i suppose i'll just have to jiggle it a bit more when putting the clutch unit back in. the annoying thing is i've done the bloody hard bit and seem to be struggling at the final hurdle ......... grrrrrrrrrrr
